Where Discord fonts work (and where Markdown takes over)

Knowing the difference between Unicode fonts and Discord's built-in formatting saves a lot of confusion. The fancy styles from this generator are real Unicode characters, so they paste and display in every text field Discord has: your username, your per-server nickname, and the About Me / pronouns area of your profile. They also show up in messages — but inside chat, Discord adds its own layer.

Bold, italic, spoiler & strikethrough in messages

When you want native styling inside a chat message, Discord uses Markdown rather than a font. Wrap your text with these symbols:

• Bold — **your text**
• Italic — *your text*
• Underline — __your text__
• Strikethrough — ~~your text~~
• Spoiler (click-to-reveal) — ||your text||

Building a standout Discord name

For usernames and nicknames, lean on widely supported styles — bold, italic, and script render cleanly across desktop and mobile. Avoiding the empty-box problem

Some decorative styles use rarer Unicode points. If a viewer's device doesn't have that glyph, they see tofu — an empty rectangle.
